Shelby Carver will be graduating from the University of Southern Maine with a Master of Science in Counseling this coming August, and then will be pursuing conditional licensure this coming Fall. During this transition period, Shelby is offering non-clinical life coaching services focused on personal growth, self-discovery, confidence building, life transitions, stress management, relationship challenges, and goal achievement. She brings a compassionate, person-centered approach that honors each individual's unique experiences, strengths, and values while helping clients create meaningful and sustainable change. Shelby is especially passionate about supporting teens and adults as they navigate identity exploration, life transitions, relationship concerns, personal empowerment, and the challenges that come with balancing life's many responsibilities. Her coaching style is warm, affirming, and collaborative, creating a supportive environment where clients can gain clarity, strengthen self-trust, and move toward the life they envision. Shelby believes that growth happens when people feel seen, supported, and empowered to embrace both their strengths and their authentic selves. A queer native of Lewiston, Maine, Shelby finds balance and inspiration hiking forest trails, swimming in quiet waters, and spending time with her rescue dogs and family. She embraces both the peaceful moments and the beautiful complexities of life and brings that same appreciation for growth, resilience, and connection into her work with clients.
Coaching Philosophy
At The Canvas of Life Counseling, LLC, life coaching is rooted in the belief that individuals already hold the capacity for growth, change, and direction within themselves. Coaching provides a supportive and structured space to gain clarity, build momentum, and move forward with intention. This approach is collaborative, goal-oriented, and focused on the present and future. It emphasizes practical strategies, personal accountability, and alignment with values to help individuals navigate challenges, make decisions, and create meaningful progress in their lives. Life coaching is designed to support forward movement through life’s transitions and obstacles, offering guidance and structure without replacing or replicating clinical mental health services.
