Alishia is Licensed Master Social Worker-Conditional Clinical. For the past 13 years, she has supported individuals of all ages and ability levels through a wide range of life experiences and challenges. Her professional background includes working across community, family, education, legal, and state government (DHHS) systems. She now brings that experience and perspective into the therapeutic setting, where she has the opportunity to support clients more personally along their journeys. She has particular experience and interest in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, grief, complex trauma (C-PTSD), relationship and attachment concerns, domestic violence, and parenting challenges. She also has a special interest in working with single parents and individuals experiencing significant financial stress. She welcomes a variety of presenting concerns and currently works with clients ages 10 and older. Her therapeutic approach draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. As a lifelong learner, she continues to expand her clinical knowledge and believes therapeutic approaches should be individualized to each client's needs, experiences, and goals.
Counseling Philosophy
Alishia's counseling philosophy is warm, down-to-earth, nonjudgmental, supportive, and client-centered, with humor incorporated when appropriate. She approaches each person's story with genuine curiosity and believes clients are the experts on their own lives. Rather than telling clients what they should do, she strives to walk alongside them as they make sense of their experiences, consider their options, identify their goals, and determine what feels right for their lives. She recognizes that sometimes simply getting through the day is an accomplishment, particularly when life feels heavy and there are few places to set that weight down. She believes meaningful change begins with understanding the thoughts, beliefs, experiences, and patterns influencing a person's life before focusing solely on where they want to go. Her goal is to provide a space where clients consistently feel heard, respected, encouraged, and accepted while developing tools and perspectives that fit their individual needs. Above all, she wants clients to know they are welcome as they are. She considers it an honor to be trusted with each client's story and to support them as they move through their individual journey.
