Amanda Perez, LMSW-CC, CGP (She/Her) Amanda brings her authentic presence to the Canvas of Life Counseling's clinical group, honoring the inner strength within each person and guiding them with authenticity toward healing and growth.
Hi, I’m Amanda Perez. I hold a Licensed Master Social Worker Conditional Clinical and a Certified Grief Informed Professional. I know reaching out for support takes courage, and I feel honored to walk alongside people as they take that step. My professional path has taken me through hospice care, child welfare, and volunteer work with adults with intellectual disabilities; experiences that have deepened my respect for the different ways people navigate change, loss, and growth. I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, where I specialized in direct practice with children and families. I am dually licensed in Maine (LMSW-CC) and Texas (LMSW). My professional experience includes four years in hospice care, guiding patients and families through end-of-life challenges with compassion and dignity, as well as service as a Child Protective Services caseworker in Texas, where I supported children and families through difficult transitions. I also bring experience from juvenile probation, play therapy training, and long-term volunteer work with youth and children in community and church settings. These diverse roles have taught me how to provide steady support during times of crisis, loss, and transformation. Whether working with children, families, or adults, I strive to bring a balance of empathy, advocacy, and collaboration to the counseling relationship.
Amanda's Counseling Philosophy
I believe therapy should meet you exactly where you are. Sometimes that means creating space to process grief or trauma, sometimes it’s finding practical coping strategies for daily stressors, and other times it’s simply having someone to listen without judgment. My role as a counselor is to provide a safe, compassionate, and person-centered space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward at your own pace. I approach each person as unique, honoring individual strengths while also recognizing the importance of connection and community. Guided by the Social Work Code of Ethics, I place a high value on integrity, respect, and dignity in every interaction. My hope is that through our work together, you will feel not only supported in navigating challenges but also encouraged to recognize your own resilience and capacity for growth.
